January 8th, 3. I have done troubleshooting and it indicates my Realtek Audio is working. When I “sudo lshw -c multimedia” this is what I get: Will confirm if I can get a fix for ati-drivers.
OK just a question after you are finished installing Win 8. Hey Zoumer, just wanted to say I just googled this volume fix and thanks to your post about windows 10 I’m pretty sure it helped me find this and the fix worked great.

Also, I’d really like some software like the windows-only “Realtek Audio Manager” that does effects to the audio such as echoes and so on. Your sound raltek Realtek may have problems frequencies. The driver is just not there. I’ve seen few people having issues with low volume with Realtek HD, I was one of them.
I believe the output of lspci -v will be more helpful. My sound device Realtek ALC which is an on-board sound chip is not being detected by the kernel. A good place to go for latest drivers is station-drivers.
